Softball Recap: De Soto Wins Going Away Against Weston

De Soto came out on top against Weston on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run seventh inning. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Silver Eagles. That looming 17-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pirates yet this season.

Ella Koch was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Kylee Venner was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sylvia Krueger, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

De Soto is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Weston, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
