Chewelah is 8-2 against Northwest Christian School since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will square off against the Crusaders at 2:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Chewelah sitting on 13 straight victories and Northwest Christian School on eight.
Chewelah's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Reardan as they made off with a 12-0 win. Considering the Cougars have won ten contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Miles Krausz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Luke McGuire, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Chewelah always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reardan only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, Northwest Christian School got the win against Kettle Falls on Saturday by a conclusive 8-1. The Crusaders are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the tenth match they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Preston Mortlock was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Adin Spuler was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Chewelah's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Northwest Christian School, their record now sits at 12-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chewelah hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .384. However, it's not like Northwest Christian School struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
