The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks were the 51-48 winner over the Ganado Hornets when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Yuma Catholic fell 54-42 to Ganado on Saturday.
Despite the loss, Yuma Catholic still got an impressive performance from Amanda Wiley, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Wiley scored a full 45.2% of Yuma Catholic's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ximena Poo, who scored eight points.
Yuma Catholic has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Ganado, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yuma Catholic and Odyssey Institute will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Odyssey Institute is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Ganado, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Window Rock at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Window Rock presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ganado in Arizona (Window Rock is ranked second, while Ganado is ranked 56th).
