Basketball Recap: Chester Piles Up the Points Against Burkeville

Chester won the last time they faced Burkeville and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chester Yellowjackets simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Burkeville Mustangs 46-19. The Yellowjackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 25 points or more this season.

Chester was led to victory by Ty Cochran and Sydney Brock. Cochran dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds, while Brock posted ten points along with five boards and four steals. Brock has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tegan Toler, who earned eight points in addition to ten boards and three steals.

Chester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 34 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Chester has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Burkeville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

Chester will venture away from home to face off against Wells at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wells has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Burkeville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
