The Tabiona Tigers came tearing into Saturday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Manila with points to spare, taking the game 72-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Tabiona was led to victory by Logan Rhoades and Chance Lazenby. Rhoades scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, while Lazenby scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Lazenby continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lex Giles, who scored 11 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Manila's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sim Brady, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Riley Browning, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Tabiona pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Manila, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
Tabiona will head out on the road to challenge Altamont at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manila, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Wendover at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Wendover will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
