It was a good run, but the Upsala Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Browerville 55-51. Upsala was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Browerville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Upsala still got an impressive performance from Brenna Graves, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Graves has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Leners, who scored six points.
Upsala's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-7. As for Browerville, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.
Upsala will stay at home for another game and welcome Swanville at 7:15 p.m. on January 9th. Swanville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Upsala likes a good challenge. Browerville is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at 4:45 p.m. on January 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Minnesota (Long Prairie-Grey Eagle is ranked 334th, while Browerville is ranked 318th).
