The South Choctaw Academy Rebels will challenge the Snook Christian Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
South Choctaw Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Patrician Academy last Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Saints, falling 10-4. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
JT Railey put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Railey was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Snook Christian Academy). They were the clear victor by a 21-11 margin over Jackson Academy on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Snook Christian Academy, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like South Choctaw Academy, Snook Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Aaron Ashley. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Ashley was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Snook Christian Academy is undefeated when Ashley posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Landon Rubel was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Snook Christian Academy: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Thad Scott was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Snook Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Snook Christian Academy pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for South Choctaw Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
South Choctaw Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Snook Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 9-6. Does South Choctaw Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Snook Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
