The Cartersville Hurricanes and the Calhoun Yellow Jackets will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
Last Saturday, Cartersville came up short against Gilmer and fell 69-61. While losing is never fun, Cartersville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while Gilmer is ranked 117th).
Despite their loss, Cartersville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nas Bennett, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Daeyln Hall was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Calhoun also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Allatoona by a score of 68-60. Calhoun has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cartersville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Calhoun, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Cartersville beat Calhoun 69-61 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Will Cartersville repeat their success, or does Calhoun have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
