Corunna is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Thursday. They will venture away from home to take on the Linden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Corunna hasn't scored more than two runs for seven games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Corunna came up short against Durand on Wednesday, falling 17-2.
Meanwhile, Linden never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Kearsley with a sharp 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Addi Piotrovsky (2029) made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Lilly Ciesielski (2028) was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Turvey (2029), who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Linden hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.
Linden pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Corunna, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
Corunna suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Linden in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
