After a string of eight wins, The Mansfield Timberview Wolves''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 37-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richland. The matchup was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but Mansfield Timberview was blown out by Richland in the second.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylon Woods, who rushed for 54 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Zuric Humes, who threw for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Richland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Turner, who rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns. Turner hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Xavier Johnson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 109 receiving yards.
Mansfield Timberview's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Richland, their win was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Mansfield Timberview will take on Adams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Adams will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 970th, while Mansfield Timberview is ranked 174th). As for Richland, they will head out on the road to face off against Molina on Friday. Molina is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
