It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Wakulla War Eagles can now relate to. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 42-28 to Florida State University High School. Wakulla's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Wakulla still got an impressive performance from Haden Klees, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 244 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Thomas, who gained 83 total yards and a touchdown.
Leading Florida State University High School to victory were Jeremy Johnston and Jayden Threatts. Johnston threw for 228 yards and four touchdowns, while Threatts rushed for 228 yards and a touchdown while picking up 13.4 yards per carry. Threatts was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Ashton Hampton was another key contributor, picking up 99 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Wakulla's defeat dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Florida State University High School, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Wakulla does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Florida State University High School will be playing in front of their home fans against Pensacola Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pensacola Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 218 points over their last five matchups.
