Tanner Solarczyk ran for five touchdowns to lift
Richland (Johnstown, Pa.) to a 47-0 beat over Somerset (Pa.). Thanks to the stand out performance the junior now has 10 touchdowns on the season.
The Rams were up 33-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Solarczyk in the first quarter.
Richland expanded its lead to 47 points entering the fourth quarter. RHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Solarczyk touchdown run.
The Johnstown school put up 27 points in the first quarter en route to the win. The Rams scored on four rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including four by Solarczyk.
The Eagles came in surrendering 9.0 points per game this season. Somerset struggled against Richland, which came in averaging 38.8 points per game. RHS came into the game allowing 11.2 points per game. SHS's zero points were well below its season average of 25.2 per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Rams came away with a 49-36 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Somerset, which notched a 35-0 victory over Greater Johnstown in its previous outing.
In a Laurel Highlands game next week Somerset (4-2) takes on Bedford, and Richland (6-0) will go up against Westmont Hilltop also in a Laurel Highlands game.
