The Marksville Tigers and the Mansfield Wolverines squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Marksville Tigers had to settle for second. Marksville fell to Mansfield 34-28. Marksville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Marksville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kyreon Prier, who rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns, and Elidrick Murray who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Mansfield had a senior duo take command as Terrence Pegues rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry and Rykeelin Vanzant rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown.
Marksville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Mansfield, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-5.
Marksville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mansfield will square off against Sterlington at TBD on Friday. Sterlington is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
