The Reed Raiders will face off against the Damonte Ranch Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Reed is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
McQueen hit Reed with a six-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers.
Gage Burns was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Damonte Ranch, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Carson by a score of 7-3 on Saturday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Senators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Codi Mateo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Damonte Ranch's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 4-2 (and 6-7-1 when he doesn't). Mateo was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Kolten Matter tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, Jake Wigfield was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Damonte Ranch: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Dietz, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Damonte Ranch now has a winning record of 10-9-1. As for Reed, they now have a losing record of 11-12-1.
Reed beat Damonte Ranch 7-3 in their previous meeting back in March. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
