Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for St. Petersburg Catholic on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Out-of-Door Academy out of the water with a 49-6 final score. Given the Barons' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Thunder are ranked 311th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Seffner Christian better keep an eye on Chase Burrill. He was instrumental in St. Petersburg Catholic's win, throwing for 280 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and also punching in one score on the ground. Burrill is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Larry Christian III helped Burrill out on the ground, rushing for 110 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.
St. Petersburg Catholic's run defense was locked in: Out-of-Door Academy could only muster 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Courtney Taylor for the heroic effort on defense: he. St. Petersburg Catholic didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.7.
Seffner Christian's record is now 7-2. As for St. Petersburg Catholic, their record now sits at 8-0.
The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. Seffner Christian has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 204.8 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, St. Petersburg Catholic has preferred to attack from the air: they average 285.8 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
Seffner Christian couldn't quite get it done against St. Petersburg Catholic in their previous matchup back in September of 2024 as they fell 21-14. Thankfully for the Crusaders, Kanon Vetter (who rushed for 116 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 106 yards and one TD while completing 83.3% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
