The Evansville Harrison Warriors will head out to take on the Vincennes Lincoln Alices at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evansville Harrison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Evansville Harrison made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Evansville Central, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Warriors fell just short of the Bears by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.
Rhyann Guier was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only three hits, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Joselyn Wade was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two runs. Anna Bullington also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vincennes Lincoln). They never let Evansville Bosse get on the board and left with a 24-0 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Alices in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.
Olivia Lange looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Cunningham, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Archer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and three RBI.
Vincennes Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .617. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Vincennes Lincoln's record is now 4-5. As for Evansville Harrison, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Evansville Harrison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Vincennes Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Evansville Harrison suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Vincennes Lincoln in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
