Wrightstown hasn't had much luck against Denmark recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will welcome the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Wrightstown is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Wrightstown will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Freedom, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers walked away with a 6-3 win over the Irish on Thursday.
Sophia Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits.
At the plate, Elaina Verbeten and Madelyn DeCleene did most of the damage at the plate: Verbeten went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run, while DeCleene went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryn Amundson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run.
Wrightstown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Denmark hadn't done well against Mishicot recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brynn DeLarwelle and Shaelyn Kraschnewski were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, DeLarwelle tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Kraschnewski pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, DeLarwelle went 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Kraschnewski went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave DeLarwelle a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rebekah Dittmer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Vanny Umentum was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Wrightstown's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Denmark, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
