Crimson Cliffs has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.07 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell just short of the Desert Hills Thunder by a score of 11-10. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

AUSTIN SMITH and JACKSON WITTWER stepped up to the plate in a big way. SMITH went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while WITTWER scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That home run was SMITH's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of MCKAY WRIGHT, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Crimson Cliffs' defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-5. As for Desert Hills, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1.

While Crimson Cliffs had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
