Two dominant backs in Daveon Singleton and Jarid Gamiz are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Chapin Huskies will venture away from home to square off against the Canutillo Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Canutillo will be up against a hot Chapin squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Huskies' defense stepped up to hand El Paso a 56-0 shutout on Friday. The Huskies' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Chapin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joshua Martel out in front who rushed for 56 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Fabian Ortiz helped out on the ground, rushing for 84 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Chapin's run defense was locked in: El Paso could only muster 0.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Juel Delgado for the heroic effort on defense: he. Chapin didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.5.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Canutillo, as they earned their first away win of the season. They breezed past Jefferson to the tune of 59-0 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while the Silver Foxes are ranked 1113th).
Chapin better keep an eye on Cesar Huerta. He was instrumental in Canutillo's win, rushing for 18 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 152 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes. Huerta's passing game has become a key predictor of the Eagles' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.
Canutillo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Elijah Martinez.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Chapin, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Chapin took a serious blow against Canutillo when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 41-7. Thankfully for the Huskies, Matthew Gasca (who rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
