BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
Garces (Bakersfield, Calif.) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used 14 fourth quarter points to seal the 41-7 victory over North (Bakersfield, Calif.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Jake Pavletich to
Dominic Frasch in the second quarter, the Rams led 20-7 at the half.
Garces expanded its lead to 20 points entering the fourth quarter. GHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Sheldon Croney.
North's only touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Steven Twiss in the second quarter.
Coming into the game the Rams had allowed 25.0 points per game this year. Garces held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Stars below the 12.3 points it had been averaging per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 42-0 win for GHS.
The loss comes after North defeated Foothill 20-6 last week. The win brought Garces' winning streak to four games.
North (2-5) will play a Southeast Yosemite game against Tehachapi next week, while Garces (5-2) will take on Foothill also in a Southeast Yosemite game.
