Volleyball Recap: Southwest's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Southwest needed a changed in momentum after dropping eight straight matches and they got it from Olivia Hnem. The Trojans walked away with a 3-1 win over the Wheaton Bulldogs on Thursday with plenty of help from Hnem, who had 27 digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Southwest had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-14.

Southwest's victory bumped their record up to 6-14-1. As for Wheaton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10-1 record this season.

Southwest will host Golden City at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wheaton, they will venture away from home to face off against Bronaugh at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
