The Fillmore Central Panthers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 43-8 win over Wood River. The result was nothing new for Fillmore Central, who have now won seven matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Trevor Roach, who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Luke Kimbrough was in the mix as well, providing Fillmore Central with two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Wood River still got an impressive performance from Waylon Cronk, who rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Fillmore Central's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Fairbury and 0-9 David City (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 11.1% over those games). As for Wood River, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Fillmore Central will face off against Wilber-Clatonia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Wilber-Clatonia is ranked 59th, while Fillmore Central is ranked 36th). Wood River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
