The biggest upset of the week belonged to Hazel Green, who took down 31st ranked Hazel Green, 21-14.
Decatur's Mark Thompson recorded the longest rushing play in 6A Region 8 this season in his game against Buckhorn last week. Thompson ran for 76 yards on the play and finished with 135 on the day as his team beat the Bucks.
Decatur's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jackson Fite threw for 112 and three touchdowns and Jordan Tibbs had 79 yards receiving. Harold Blades helped Decatur's passing attack out by catching one ball for 28 yards.
Decatur's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Red Raiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Fite has thrown for 579 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Tibbs has 15 catches for 235 yards. Josh Matthews leads the league in rushing with 501 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Florence takes on Austin. The Falcons are currently in fifth, while the Black Bears are in first.
Fite and Tibbs provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Buckhorn. The connection was good for 68 yards, the longest such play in 6A Region 8 this season.
