The Ponderosa Mustangs will face off against the Regis Jesuit Raiders at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Ponderosa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Ponderosa's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Douglas County 15-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Nick Moe looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Isai Santaella was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Alejo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Ponderosa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglas County only managed one hit.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Regis Jesuit ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out ThunderRidge 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
The team relied heavily on Diesel Bernosky, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Olson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Ponderosa's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Regis Jesuit, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Both Ponderosa and Regis Jesuit just can't seem to miss. The Mustangs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Regis Jesuit struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ponderosa might still be hurting after the 12-6 loss they got from Regis Jesuit in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
