The Adena Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Unioto Shermans at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Adena's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Unioto's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Adena fell victim to Chillicothe and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to the Cavaliers. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.
Unioto came out on top against Circleville on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Shermans had just enough and edged out the Tigers 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Shermans.
Peytan Robinson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Robinson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Tuttle, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Mackenzie Welch was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Unioto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .343 or higher in four consecutive matches.
The victory got Unioto back to even at 6-6. As for Adena, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Adena's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Unioto, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Adena continue to outrun the ball?
Adena suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Unioto in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
