Baseball Recap: Thunderbird Adventist Academy Gets the Win

Thunderbird Adventist Academy came out on top against Tri-City Christian Academy on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. Thunderbird Adventist Academy took their matchup against Tri-City Christian Academy 10-7. For Thunderbird Adventist Academy, this counts as revenge for the 15-4 win Tri-City Christian Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2018.

Zeke Van Bogaert and Jacob Baumann did most of the damage at the plate: Van Bogaert got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Baumann went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave Baumann a new career-high. Peter Gaxiola was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Thunderbird Adventist Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .731. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Thunderbird Adventist Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Tri-City Christian Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Thunderbird Adventist Academy and Tri-City Christian Academy will both be playing Holy Family Academy the next time they take the field. Tri-City Christian Academy will head out to face Holy Family Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Thunderbird Adventist Academy will host them at 4:30 p.m. on April 8.
