Basketball Game Preview: Winside Wildcats vs. Omaha Nation Chiefs

The Winside Wildcats will face off against the Omaha Nation Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Winside came up short against Winnebago and fell 53-41.

Despite their defeat, Winside saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bridget Marotz, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards, was perhaps the best of all. Marotz is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Topp, who went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points along with five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Winside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Omaha Nation had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They claimed a resounding 66-29 victory over the Knights. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.

Omaha Nation's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Winside, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
