Davis Sr. and Franklin are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Blue Devils will face off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Davis Sr. is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mountain House a 10-0 shutout. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Blue Devils this season.
Gracie Martinez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Lester, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Davis Sr. hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Franklin waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 9-1 win.
Leilani Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Franklin let Madison Ortega and Angel Estrada run wild. Ortega went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Estrada got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Estrada a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Julissa Sandoval, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.
Davis Sr.'s victory bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 17-10.
Davis Sr. came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklin in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
