The Queensbury Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Queensbury has 15 straight victories, the Spartans have five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Queensbury earned a 46-39 win over the Patriots.
Shea Canavan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Canavan is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyllan Ray, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake was the victim of a tough 70-44 defeat at the hands of the Raiders on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Raiders are ranked 62nd).
Queensbury's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Queensbury couldn't quite finish off the Spartans in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 46-43. Can Queensbury avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
