Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Grass Lake's 15th in Last 16 Outings

Grass Lake barely beat Lumen Christi Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Titans on Tuesday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 25 games by seven runs or more this season.

Makenzie Hilberer (2027) made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Brown (2025), who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Nadene Hubbard (2025), who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Grass Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 29-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Grass Lake is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lumen Christi Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 26-11.
