Softball Recap: Dekalb County Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

DeKalb County got themselves on the board against Upperman on Tuesday, but Upperman never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bees with a sharp 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kora Kilgore made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophie Adcocok, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Wilbur, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

DeKalb County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in eight consecutive games.

DeKalb County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Upperman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-14.

Looking ahead, DeKalb County will face off against Gordonsville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gordonsville will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something DeKalb County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Upperman, they will challenge Monterey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
