Twin Valley recap October 29, 2013
Centralia/Wetmore extended the longest winning streak in Twin Valley this week by beating Doniphan West, 66-7. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
The Mustangs fell to Centralia/Wetmore 66-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Garret Dunlap ran for 50 yards in the defeat.
Troy's dynamic duo of Tristan Speer and Jake Ross proved tough for Immaculata to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Speer threw for 167 yards and 3 touchdowns and Ross had 91 yards receiving. Colton Masters helped Troy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 44 yards.
Brett Herrs was a key player and the best on defense this week as Washington County lost to Ell-Saline. The 6-foot-2 junior racked up 2 sacks.
Konner Penning was a passing and rushing force as the Tigers lost to the Cardinals. He completed 12 passes for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 9 yards. Penning's favorite target this week was Andrew Tiemeyer, who caught 4 passes for 56 yards.
He was 12-18 with 0 interceptions.
Washington County's Penning and Cole Thompson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Penning has thrown for 1,220 yards this season, while Thompson has 37 catches for 548 yards. Onaga's Michael Bliss leads the league in rushing yards with 992.
Larry Glatzak's team's Sam Steinlage needs only 83 yards against Jackson Heights next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 78 carries Steinlage has accumulated 917 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Nick Fuemmeler's team takes on the Trojans. The Mustangs are in sixth place, while Troy is in second place.
The Panthers led Twin Valley in scoring this week after putting up 66 points on Doniphan West. J.T. Rosine threw for 58 yards and ran for 91 yards during the win.
