After losing to the Lausanne Collegiate Lynx the last time they met, the Mount Vernon Mustangs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Mount Vernon strolled past Lausanne Collegiate with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 69-50.
Mount Vernon was led to victory by Xavier Shegog and Kj Garris. Shegog dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Garris dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Garris' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dennis Scott, III, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Mount Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Lausanne Collegiate, they have fallen quite a ways from their 22-3 record last season and are now at 2-7.
Mount Vernon will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Mount Pisgah Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. The timing isn't great for Mount Pisgah Christian: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Mount Vernon has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season. Lausanne Collegiate won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering at 2:00 p.m. on January 6th. Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 565 points over their last nine games.
