Last Friday, The Ballou Knights faced the Dunbar Crimson Tide in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ballou was beaten by Dunbar 62-34. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ballou in their matchups with Dunbar: they've now lost five in a row.
Ballou's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Zo Martin, who picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two rushing scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelvin Hewitt, who threw for 230 yards and a touchdown.
Ballou now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Dunbar, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ballou will take on Woodson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Woodson is ranked sixth, while Ballou is ranked 12th). As for Dunbar, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Eastern at 6:00 p.m.
