The D'Evelyn Jaguars will face off against the Green Mountain Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. D'Evelyn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season.
D'Evelyn is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Golden just ended the team's 17-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were beaten by the Demons 61-31. The contest marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ellie McMann, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colleen Monahan, who put up four points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Green Mountain had already won 16 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 17 on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 66-39 victory over the Lions. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 21 points or more this season.
Green Mountain's win came from a few key players D'Evelyn will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Julia Schafer, who went 6 of 9 en route to 12 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Grace Herrig was another key player, putting up nine points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Green Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Green Mountain pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.9 points per game. As for D'Evelyn, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: D'Evelyn has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Green Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
D'Evelyn couldn't quite finish off Green Mountain in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 30-28. Can D'Evelyn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
