Leesville Road has gone 7-2 against Wakefield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pride will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
Leesville Road blew Holly Springs out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Holly Springs got their revenge. The Pride fell just short of the Golden Hawks by a score of 4-2. The Pride were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the four games prior), but the Golden Hawks' pitchers proved too tough.
Leesville Road got a good showing from Jack Fields, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fields has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Leesville Road saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wakefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Regis Jesuit. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wolverines have suffered since April 10, 2025.
Sam Piscorik made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Wakefield's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Leesville Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Leesville Road has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wakefield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Leesville Road's way against Wakefield in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, as Leesville Road made off with a 10-1 win. Will the Pride repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
