The Stadium Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Kentwood Conquerors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Stadium is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Stadium's offense. They lost 11-0 to Auburn Riverside on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since March 26th.
Meanwhile, Kentwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Mt. Rainier.
Jordyn Butts put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Butts was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gabby Greenwood made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lysa Napihaa, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Kentwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Stadium, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Stadium has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Kentwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Stadium's way against Kentwood in their previous matchup back in March, as Stadium made off with an 11-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
