Baseball Recap: Libertyville Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Libertyville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Glenbrook North Spartans. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 10-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Anthony Fry and Nico Harper dominated on the mound. Fry pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Harper tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Harper has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cole Lockwood was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Quinn Schambow was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run.

Libertyville's record is now 29-4. As for Glenbrook North, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-15.

Libertyville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Glenbrook North, they will face off against Lincoln Park at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
