Basketball Game Preview: Freeman Flyers vs. Alcester-Hudson Cubs

Freeman has gone 10-0 against Alcester-Hudson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Freeman Flyers will take on the Alcester-Hudson Cubs at 6:15 p.m. Freeman has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 175 points over their last three games.

Freeman is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Canistota: they outscored them in every quarter. Freeman beat Canistota on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 60-28. The Flyers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Freeman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rylee Peters led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Peters' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Cadence Hofer was another key player, going 7 of 12 en route to 16 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Alcester-Hudson was beaten by Centerville 71-38 on Tuesday. The Cubs haven't had much luck with the Tornadoes recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Freeman's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22.8 points. As for Alcester-Hudson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Everything went Freeman's way against Alcester-Hudson in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Freeman made off with a 65-45 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Alcester-Hudson's Elly Doering, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 19 rebounds.
