The Northview Academy Cougars will head out to challenge the Cocke County Fighting Cocks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Northview Academy has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Cocke County will arrive with seven straight victories.
Northview Academy's last matchup with Gatlinburg-Pittman could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. Northview Academy came up short against Gatlinburg-Pittman, falling 14-4.
Abigail Doty was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple, and two RBI. Kylie Schultz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Cocke County got themselves on the board against Seymour on Tuesday, but Seymour never followed suit. They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over the Eagles. Fans of the Fighting Cocks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Hailee Hartsell was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Adisen Mcnealy and Carsie Ellison did most of the damage at the plate: Mcnealy went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Ellison scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Mcnealy has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Strange, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Cocke County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seymour only posted an OBP of .067.
Cocke County's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.8 runs. As for Northview Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
