For the first time this season, Mid Valley will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Old Forge Blue Devils at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Mid Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2  runs per game  this season.
Mid Valley will roll into the  match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one  run  on Thursday, then bounced right back against Montrose  on Monday. Mid Valley was the clear victor by  a  15-5 margin over Montrose. Considering the Spartans have won three contests by more than five  runs this season, Monday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Brett Yanoski made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Yanoski was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-3. He also  hit a  double, marking his first of the season.
 In other batting news, Mid Valley let  Doug Pua and  Nick Mills run wild. Pua  went 1-for-3 with three  runs, one  triple,  and one  RBI, while  Mills  scored three  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most  runs  Mills has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Lorenzo Hernandez, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
 Mid Valley  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  struck out at most five  strikeouts in three consecutive  games.
Meanwhile,  it may have taken  ten innings to finish the job, but Old Forge ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Sunday. They skirted past West Scranton  6-4.
 Luke Olivieri and  Jake Bartnikowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  Olivieri   struck out six batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits. Meanwhile,  Bartnikowski   didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits over four innings pitched. At bat,  Olivieri  scored a  run while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances, while  Bartnikowski  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact as  two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  TJ DiMattia, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-4.
 Old Forge now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mid Valley, their record is now 3-1.
Old Forge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  Mid Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Old Forge, though, as  they've  only  averaged .224. Will they be able to contain Mid Valley's hitters?
 Mid Valley skirted past Old Forge  9-8 in their previous matchup  back in April of 2024. Will Mid Valley repeat their success,  or does  Old Forge has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
