The numbers might not have changed much, but the postseason is here and brought about plenty of gameday action in the power rankings this week. The action included a dizzyingly high 123-point combined score from Wilsonville and Crater.
Can't Touch This
Even though Churchill was bested by Thurston 49 - 48 last week, Churchill's junior Deonte Jones played one heck of a game. He ran for 340 yards and also punched in six touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Jones as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Central Catholic (8th in the power rankings) and Tualatin (9th). Central Catholic battled it out with Tualatin for a well-earned 28 - 21 overtime win. Despite the outcome, neither team improved or gave up its position in the power rankings.
Movin on Up
The Amity offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It put the hurt on Nyssa with a conclusive 58 - 13 victory. Amity had two big standouts, as senior Jonathan Mather earned two touchdowns and 154 yards rushing the ball, while senior West Streeter rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns. The success catapulted Amity five spots up the power rankings, enough to make it the biggest riser of the week.
No Stoppin 'Em
It isn't too difficult to come out on top when you enjoy a 109-yard edge over your opponent, and Wilsonville had just that last week. It took its game against Crater by a confident 78 - 45 score. Senior Nathan Overholt was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he threw for 438 yards and six touchdowns). The combined 123-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
