Even though the Manchester Squires have not done well against the Northfield Norsemen recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Manchester came out on top against Northfield by a score of 57-44. The victory was nothing new for Manchester as they're now sitting on three straight.
Brookelynn Buzzard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points. Gracie Lauer was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Northfield's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elli Baker, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eden Hoover, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Northfield struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Manchester racked up ten assists.
Manchester is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Northfield, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Manchester won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wabash at 6:30 p.m. on December 30th. Hopefully Wabash focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. Northfield will finish 2023 at home by hosting Southwood at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Southwood is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
