Saint Viator is 1-9 against Carmel since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lions will look to defend their home field against the Corsairs at 4:00 p.m. Saint Viator is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Saint Viator lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Marian Catholic, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's game. The Lions were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Spartans on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Carley Heiden made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Maggie Ratzki was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four runs. That home run was her first of the season. Ava Moreno was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
Saint Viator lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Carmel and Nazareth Academy meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Corsairs walked away with a 9-4 win over the Roadrunners.
Ali Rice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Carmel got a massive performance out of Grace Brown, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace King, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Saint Viator pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saint Viator hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Carmel struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
