The Pine Raiders typically have all the answers at home, but on Monday the Slidell Tigers proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 54-42 win over the Raiders. Given Slidell's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Raiders are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Slidell was led to victory by Grant Bonnaffons and Mike Parlow. Bonnaffons scored 15 points along with two steals, while Parlow scored 17 points along with six steals. Parlow is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Hookfin, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Slidell's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-8. As for Pine, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-14.
Slidell will take on the Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumner has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 9.
