Western Boone is 1-6 against Cascade since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Stars will head out on the road to challenge the Cadets at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, Western Boone had just enough and edged out Danville 4-2.
Easton Nance spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Quinn Westerfeld, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cascade, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They never let Ben Davis get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Davis Hart looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Brady Beikes was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Toby Savini, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Cascade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Davis only posted an OBP of .455.
Cascade's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Western Boone, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Western Boone might still be hurting after the 13-1 defeat they got from Cascade in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Stars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
