The Resurrection Christian Cougars can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Berthoud 72-34 on the road. Given Resurrection Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Berthoud is ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Resurrection Christian was led to victory by Marcus Phillips and Ty Yoder. Phillips dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds, while Yoder scored 16 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Yoder hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Barker, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Berthoud lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Declan Murphy, who scored six points.
Resurrection Christian's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Berthoud, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sterling the next time they take the court. Resurrection Christian will host Sterling at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Berthoud will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
