Edsel Ford is 1-9 against Allen Park since June of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Thunderbirds will venture away from home to square off against the Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Edsel Ford 2.7, Allen Park 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Edsel Ford took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lincoln Park a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Thunderbirds have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Edsel Ford got a great performance from Harrison OConnor as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave OConnor a new career-high.
At the plate, Edsel Ford let Ian Maness and Jacob Kowalsky run wild. Maness went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Kowalsky went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Kowalsky has posted over his last 11 games. Tyler Zelek was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Allen Park earned a 9-4 victory over Anderson on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.
Reece Phillips and Joey Sackrison did most of the damage at the plate: Phillips went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Sackrison went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Sackrison's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Matelic, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Edsel Ford's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Allen Park, their record is now 15-8-1.
Edsel Ford beat Allen Park 7-2 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbirds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
