After a string of five wins, Hale's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 75-62 to Grundy County/Newtown-Harris. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (56), Hale still had to take the loss.
Higbee has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 42 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 71-23 victory over Norborne on the road. Given Higbee's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Norborne is ranked 492nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hale's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Higbee, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Hale and Higbee were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but Hale came up empty-handed after a 58-57 loss. Can Hale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
