The Rhinebeck Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mount Academy. Rhinebeck was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mount Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Mount Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dennis Hofer, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Jake Maendel was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Rhinebeck's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Mount Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rhinebeck will square off against Highland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Highland is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Mount Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Hunter-Tannersville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hunter-Tannersville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 766th, while Mount Academy is ranked 250th).
